Apple and Huawei have reduced prices on select smartphones during the 618 shopping festival. The iPhone 17 Pro series saw a price cut of RMB 1,000, with prices starting at RMB 6,999, and customers can enjoy an additional RMB 2,000 discount through trade-in programs. Huawei's Mate X7 and Mate X6 were discounted by RMB 1,000 and RMB 3,000, respectively. Despite a decline in shipment volumes, global smartphone market revenue grew 8% year-over-year, driven by increased demand for high-end models that pushed average selling prices up by 12%

Apple and Huawei have launched their 618 promotions, with price cuts of up to RMB 1,000 on select smartphones.

At midnight on May 15, Apple released its 618 promotional plan. It was observed that both Apple’s self-operated Douyin store and its official Tmall flagship store posted discount schemes. Under these offers, the entire iPhone 17 Pro series saw a price reduction of RMB 1,000. When combined with trade-in discounts, customers can save up to RMB 2,000, bringing the final price of the iPhone Pro series down to a low of RMB 6,999. The iPhone Air was discounted by RMB 2,000, the Apple Watch by RMB 700, and AirPods by RMB 220.

In addition, JD.com’s self-operated Apple product flagship store adjusted prices immediately, matching the official discount margins. For the iPhone 17 Pro series, the combination of direct price cuts and trade-in subsidies offers a total discount of RMB 2,000, resulting in a final price of RMB 6,999—the lowest since its launch.

Meanwhile, according to Huawei Terminal, the company’s foldable flagship, the Mate X7, has seen a price reduction, with the entire lineup discounted by RMB 1,000, starting at RMB 11,999 after the discount. The Huawei Mate X6 saw a direct price cut of RMB 3,000.

During the spring "618" shopping festival in previous years, various smartphone brands typically offered promotional price cuts. However, this year, rising memory chip prices have placed significant pressure on manufacturers. Previously, brands such as OPPO, vivo, and Honor raised prices on older models, and also set higher pricing for new releases this year to alleviate cost pressures.

Apart from Apple and Huawei, other smartphone brands have not yet joined the 618 promotions.

According to the latest market monitoring report from Counterpoint Research, despite a decline in shipment volumes, global smartphone market revenue in the first quarter of 2026 still grew 8% year-over-year, reaching $117 billion. The market faced dual pressures from rising bill of materials (BoM) costs and memory shortages, which weighed on shipment volumes. However, increased demand for high-end models and product price adjustments drove the average selling price (ASP) up 12% year-over-year to $399, marking a historic high for the first quarter.
