Samsung Electronics has advanced the start of production for the first production line at its Yongin semiconductor plant in South Korea from 2030-2031 to 2029. This adjustment aligns with the South Korean government's policy direction to accelerate the construction of the Yongin National Industrial Complex. Once the first fab begins production as scheduled, it will not only help Samsung respond more quickly to the surge in demand for AI chips but also accelerate the formation of an ecosystem for South Korea's domestic semiconductor materials, components, and equipment industries. Samsung Electronics had previously announced a total investment of 2030 trillion South Korean won in semiconductor clusters such as Pyeongtaek and Yongin.
