Ryanair has signed a five-year cooperation agreement with Google Cloud to fully deploy Gemini AI tools and DeepMind models in its operations. The collaboration aims to optimize crew scheduling, assist decision-making, and reduce technical risks, complementing the existing AWS solutions. Ryanair will promote Google Workspace and Cloud services to its 35,000 employees to support its goal of reaching 300 million passengers by 2034
Ryanair announced on Wednesday that it will fully deploy Google's Gemini artificial intelligence tools and DeepMind models in its operations under a new five-year cloud collaboration agreement, utilizing the technology to assist in crew scheduling and operational decision-making.
By passenger volume, Ryanair is the largest airline in Europe. The company stated that it will roll out Google Workspace and Google Cloud services from Alphabet to its 35,000 employees across its global network to support its goal of reaching 300 million passengers annually by 2034.
“To support this growth, we need to ensure we have excellent infrastructure resilience, and our new dual-cloud strategy is designed for that, while we also have technology partners that can match our pace of growth and are equally committed to efficiency,” said Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson.
The agreement with Google Cloud complements its existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) usage plan, aimed at reducing the risk of technological disruptions.
The Irish airline stated that it will utilize Gemini Enterprise to develop customized AI agents to automate certain decision-making processes, optimize crew scheduling, and reduce operational disruptions.
The airline also mentioned that it will adopt Google DeepMind's models (including AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext) to support fleet operations and maintenance scheduling. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed
