On August 12, the Hong Kong stock market opened lower, dragged down by the overnight decline in U.S. stocks and Chinese concept stocks, with the Hang Seng Index opening down 0.6% at 25,498.39 points. The Hang Seng TECH Index fell 0.8%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.57%. In terms of sectors, gold stocks generally strengthened, with Zijin Mining and China Gold rising over 2%; pharmaceutical stocks performed well, with Zai Lab increasing over 8%; some AI and semiconductor concept stocks rose. Most tech stocks fell, with major internet giants Tencent, Alibaba, and JD.com all dropping over 1%

According to Zhitong Finance APP, on August 12, the Hang Seng Index opened down 0.6%, at 25,498.39 points; the Hang Seng TECH Index fell 0.8%, at 4,785.75 points; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.57%, at 8,479.60 points. The pre-market turnover was HKD 2.17 billion.

Gold stocks strengthened, with Zijin Mining (02259) rising over 2%, China Gold International (02099) up over 2%, Lingbao Gold (03330) increasing over 2%, Laopuhuang Gold (06181) gaining nearly 2%, and Shandong Gold (01787) rising over 1%.

Pharmaceutical stocks also strengthened, with Zai Lab (09688) up over 8% and WuXi AppTec (02268) rising over 1%, driven by Zai Lab's overnight rise of over 10% in the U.S. stock market.

Some AI and semiconductor concept stocks strengthened, with MINIMAX-W (00100) rising nearly 3%, Cambridge Technology (06166) up over 2%, Lattice Semiconductor (06809) increasing over 2%, and GigaDevice (03986) rising over 2%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 0.87% overnight.

Most tech stocks fell, with Alibaba-W (09988) down over 1%, JD.com-SW (09618) falling over 1%, NetEase-SW (09999) dropping over 1%, Tencent (00700) down over 1%, Bilibili-W (09626) falling over 1%, Meituan-W (03690) down nearly 1%, and Xiaomi Group-W (01810) dropping nearly 1%.
