Apple's conference is about to begin, with more "leaks" on the way. Will it be a "surprise" or a "shock"?
As the theme speech of Apple's WWDC 2023 developer conference approaches, there are more and more "leaks" about the new hardware product - the upcoming MR head-mounted display device.
First of all, Mark German, a Bloomberg technology journalist, said that Apple will provide some developers and attendees with the opportunity to try the new headset.
According to reports, Apple has built a new "structure" inside Apple Park to provide a controlled on-site experience for the headset. During the event, Apple will invite media and some developers to try on the headset on site, and this area will be used for on-site experience of the headset throughout the summer.
If the on-site experience is similar to previous events, developers and media personnel will be able to try on the headset immediately after the keynote speech, and Apple employees will provide a brief controlled demonstration.
The on-site experience will showcase Apple's FaceTime VR, Apple TV+ content, and games, but for users with specific conditions such as migraines, dizziness, post-concussion syndrome, and past cranial injuries, Apple will remind them not to use the headset.
In addition to the on-site trial link, there are also many rumors about the appearance, capacity, mass production, and listing time of the headset.
In terms of appearance and capacity, @billbil_kun released an article through the French media Dealabs, stating that the Apple headset has a total of six colors: black, blue, gray, green, pink, and a sixth undisclosed color. In addition, there are two storage options: 128GB and 256GB.
However, foreign technology media MacRumors is skeptical of the above predictions. First of all, six colors and two storage capacities will produce at least 12 SKUs, which is too expensive for a headset that costs up to $3,000.
Secondly, there is not much price difference between the two storage options of 128GB and 256GB.
Thirdly, @billbil_kun previously accurately leaked the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra phone, but there are not many records of Apple product-related leaks.
Therefore, MacRumors believes that the six colors may refer to the headband part, which may be interchangeable like the ear cushions of AirPods Max. On mass production and release time, Morgan Stanley stated that Apple's first VR headset will enter mass production in October and be released for sale in December.
According to Erik Woodring, an Apple analyst at Morgan Stanley:
Although we expect Apple's VR headset to be announced next week, based on the supply chain information we have, mass production is not expected to begin until October 23, and the release time is likely to be before the December holiday season.
Woodring stated that based on information obtained from the supply chain, Apple's VR headset inventory this year is expected to be between 300,000 and 500,000 units.
