$Tesla(TSLA.US) has been granted a permit to operate a taxi service in California driven by Tesla employees for Tesla employees, according to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Despite the permit, Tesla’s driverless taxi future still seems far off in California since it hasn’t yet applied for the more important driverless testing permit, for which only six firms (BIDU’s Apollo, AutoX, Nuro, Google’s Waymo, WeRide, Amazon’s Zoox) have been approved.
