The GlobalFoundries–UMC tie-up talk is nothing new, as the two began discussions 2-years ago, with no progress, DigiTimes reports, citing unnamed industry sources, adding GlobalFoundries has been in talks to sell itself for over a decade, not only to UMC, but also Samsung Electronics and chip foundries in China – with no deals. Renewed talks mean nobody wants to be in the mature chip manufacturing business, which has gotten more difficult, the report adds, saying there are no benefits to a combination of the two. $GlobalFoundries(GFS.US) $United Microelectronics(UMC.US) $SSNLF $SMICY #SMIC #Huahong #Samsung #semiconductors #semiconductor https://t.co/dZALY7uFl0
