When a stock has underperformed by as much and for as long as $Target(TGT.US) (last 5 years $Target(TGT.US) -31% vs SPX +89% and vs $Walmart(WMT.US) +131%) one would think that the new CEO would be an outsider who can bring in fresh ideas, innovation, and new people to run the company. Instead they appoint the long-time #2 and COO (who was previously CFO) to take over as CEO when current CEO Brian Cornell gets kicked up to Executive Chairman in Feb 2026.
