UMC, Taiwan’s 2nd biggest chip foundry, has received rush orders earlier in the quarter than normal, an early sign US tariffs may not hurt demand as much as feared, media report, speculating that the 1st half of 2026 may see a new wave of demand from downstream chip customers, which would fill foundries later in the year.
