TSMC may have run afoul of US export controls in an AI chip made for China’s Enflame, the S60 processor, media report, citing industry researcher TechInsights, which said the chip is powerful enough to come under US export restrictions that makes such sales to China AI companies illegal from late 2022 onward. The S60 chips were reportedly made in 2024.
