ChatGPT uninstalls surged by 295% after DoD deal
U.S. uninstalls of ChatGPT's mobile app surged by 295% on February 28 following OpenAI's deal with the Department of Defense. In contrast, downloads for competitor Anthropic's Claude increased by 37% and 51% on February 27 and 28, respectively, after it declined to partner with the DoD due to concerns over AI surveillance and weaponry. ChatGPT's downloads fell by 13% on February 28 and continued to drop, while Claude became the top app in the U.S. App Store. Consumer sentiment shifted, with 1-star reviews for ChatGPT rising by 775%.
