Tower Semi plans to quadruple 12-inch capacity in Japan after restructuring its TPSCo Japan joint venture with Nuvoton Technology (Taiwan), it said. Tower will take over TPSCo’s Fab 7, a 12-inch fab, and buy land nearby for the expansion – which is contingent on subsidies from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Nuvoton will take over TPSCo’s 8-inch Fab 5. Both firms will continue to serve clients with chips already in production. $Tower Semicon(TSEM.US) #4919 #Japan #semiconductors #semiconductor
