Intel’s 18A and 14A process improvements noted at its 1st quarter earnings conference (4/23) are speculated by Chinese-language media to have come from an ex-TSMC executive. Intel EVP Wei-Jen Lo, who joined Intel in October last year, faces 2 cases in Taiwan, a civil lawsuit by TSMC and a government-led criminal case alleging violation of the National Security Act over allegations Lo gathered significant data about TSMC’s 2nm (N2), A16 and A14 process technologies while still a high-level TSMC executive, and may have taken them to Intel. A Taiwan court authorized the seizure of over NT$2 billion (US$60 million) of Lo’s Taiwan assets last year. The case remains ongoing. Intel has reportedly fully backed Lo. $Intel(INTC.US) $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US) #semiconductors #semiconductor
