Zeng Qinghong, chairman of Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd., outlined GAC Group's layout and development in the field of intelligent driving. GAC Group has long adhered to independent innovation, with cumulative investment exceeding 50 billion yuan in R&D of intelligent connected technology, forming a 3+2+4 R&D system. Since 2013, GAC Group has achieved mass production of its first telematics system and launched 5G-enabled intelligent driving models in 2022. A project led by GAC Group successfully passed the acceptance and review by relevant national authorities.
In the field of intelligent driving, GAC Group has mass-produced multiple models and become one of China's first batch of autonomous driving pilot enterprises. It plans to launch new intelligent driving models in November this year to further promote high-level intelligent driving technology. Zeng Qinghong emphasized that GAC Group will continue to implement a cross-border integration strategy and strive to become a builder of the industrial ecosystem. He revealed that GAC is building a 5,200-acre intelligent connected industrial park in Panyu, Guangzhou, with a total investment of 46 billion yuan.
Zeng Qinghong proposed two suggestions for intelligent connectivity: first, increase efforts in independent chip R&D and industrial chain collaboration to meet the demand for high-performance chips in intelligent connected vehicles; second, accelerate the formulation and improvement of laws and regulations related to Robotaxi commercial operations to facilitate the rapid development of industrial intelligence.
