UK Trade Minister Jonathan Reynolds stated that Britain does not intend to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles similar to those of the EU. He pointed out that the UK automotive industry has not filed complaints with the Trade Remedies Authority and that the primary concern is to provide a prosperous and open export market for British producers.

The UK believes that engagement with China is beneficial, with India and the Middle East being higher priorities in trade negotiations. EU member states have approved the decision to impose tariffs on imported Chinese electric vehicles, a move that has drawn some criticism. Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Commerce stated that China and the EU have yet to find a mutually acceptable solution regarding punitive tariffs.
