BMW is gradually reducing production in China!
Since the beginning of this year, the BMW Tiexi plant has seen a significant increase in extended holidays. Production line workers only work half a month per month, receiving basic wages during this period while social insurance contributions remain normal. Meanwhile, production line operators with less than three years of service have been informed that their contracts will not be renewed upon expiration.
Shenyang, as BMW's largest global production base, plays a pivotal role—1 out of every 3 BMWs produced globally comes from here. The local plants are divided into Tiexi (including the Lida facility) and Dadong based on their district names, with a combined production capacity exceeding 830,000 vehicles, making them BMW's third-largest and largest global factories, respectively. The Tiexi plant produces models such as the 1 Series, 3 Series, X1, iX1, X2, and i3, manufacturing approximately 307,000 vehicles last year. The Dadong plant primarily produces four mid-to-high-end models: the 5 Series, X3, iX3, and X5, with 420,000 vehicles produced last year.
