The design of Nio's Firefly has broken through the circle. Even friends who don't care about cars know about Nio's Firefly. Although it's being criticized to the extreme now, whether it can make a comeback or not, it should still accumulate positive word-of-mouth in the long run. Personally, I think it looks decent—quite unique. At first glance, I didn't find it ugly, just a bit odd, but the more I looked at it, the more it grew on me. So I placed an order the very next day.

$NIO(NIO.US)Nio's new car seems to have disappointed everyone, with its market cap dropping below $10 billion. I thought about buying the dip but eventually gave up.

Nio's fundraising ability is so strong that they spend without hesitation, launching one new brand after another. However, both Onvo and Firefly seem to fall short in terms of product competitiveness and pricing.

So what exactly is Nio's moat?

I used to think battery swapping was one, but with improved battery range and 800V architecture, swapping isn't that essential anymore. Besides, those with range anxiety would probably consider extended-range vehicles.

As for autonomous driving, it's clearly not at Tier 1 level yet.

The brand does have good appeal. In good economic times, people might pay for that, but in tough times within such a competitive auto market, how many are willing to pay a premium for brand value?

I have a feeling 2025 will be crucial for Nio.
