[Yesterday's Review]
The three major indices opened lower and closed higher. The Dow rose 0.16%; the S&P 500 rose 0.73%; the Nasdaq rose 0.98%.
Most large-cap tech stocks rose. NVIDIA rose 3.69%; Meta rose 2.49%; Tesla rose 2.27%; Google Class C rose 1.57%; Apple rose 0.31%, hitting a new high; Amazon rose 0.06%; Microsoft fell 0.31%.

Semiconductor stocks generally rose. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 3.01%, with only three of its 30 components closing lower. GlobalFoundries rose 5.54%, Broadcom rose 5.52%, TSMC rose 5.15%, AMD rose 4.52%. Arm Holdings fell 4%, and Qualcomm scored a key victory in the Arm chip lawsuit.

Recently, downloads of Meta smart glasses-related apps have exploded. Sensor Tower's app download data shows that downloads of the Meta View companion app increased by over 200% year-over-year in October.
NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang recently announced that he will deliver a keynote speech at CES 2025 on January 6 at 18:30 Pacific Time, or January 7 at 10:30 Beijing Time. The RTX 5000 series GPU will be the highlight of the keynote.
The Nasdaq 100 index rebalanced, with Tesla, Meta, and Broadcom seeing reduced weightings, while Apple, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Google saw increased weightings in the Nasdaq 100 index.
Starbucks (SBUX.O) union stated that the strike at U.S. Starbucks stores will expand to over 300 locations on Tuesday, with more than 5,000 workers expected to participate. The strike is expected to continue expanding before ending late on Christmas Eve after a five-day strike.
Netflix has filed a lawsuit against Broadcom in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging that Broadcom's VMware vSphere virtualization platform infringes on five of Netflix's patents related to virtual machine communication.
Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. has applied to register multiple trademarks for "YuanbaoAi" and "Tencent Yuanbao" in categories including education and entertainment, social services, and scientific instruments. The current status of these trademarks is pending substantive examination.
