Many people say Michael Burry is shorting U.S. stocks, asking if we should run. To be precise, he wants to short tech semiconductors. His reason for shorting is that the semiconductor index has risen for 18 consecutive days, setting a historical record.
He thinks this is technically driven and lacks fundamental factors. I can't say his view is definitely wrong because the short term is indeed overheated. But I'll just post a chart. This is his report card after his famous victory in 2008. Especially, shorting Tesla in 2021 and shorting NVIDIA last year both ended in huge losses.
He once quoted a saying, "I may be early, but I'm not wrong." But what I want to say is, in the financial markets, especially with his approach, being early is being wrong.
