It's best to learn lessons from others' miserable experiences, rather than your own. Some of our successes were predicted long ago, while others were unexpected windfalls.
— Charlie Mango
Unfortunately, most of us, including myself, find it very difficult to learn from others' painful experiences, and some people don't even learn from their own.
Success is sometimes just a lucky break. What's amazing this year is that many Longbridge community members have doubled or even multiplied their returns several times over, while I, in this so-called big, big, big bull market, haven't even beaten the S&P. On the other hand, A-shares have outperformed the market by a lot. Looking back, it was really just luck 🍀, not my skill at all. And sometimes it's just that inexplicable feeling, like liking someone or making a friend.
